Biography

Charles was the only son of Barthélémy de la Fosse; he was baptized in the French episcopal chapel of les Grecs on 18 Oct. 1715.  He was buried in Richmond on 8 June 1778, aged 62.  His wife's maiden surname has been variously recorded as Ransom or Rawlings or Rawlinson; it seems likely it was really Rawson.

He founded the Richmond Academy in 1764.
